Socioeconomic characterization studies of a watershed, are complementary biophysical studies and let you know information related to the history of the community, the lifestyle of families, the forms of organization and interrelationships existing community, the uses and customs relating natural resources, agricultural cycles, major products and the prevailing agricultural practices, among others, as well as major problems, demands, interests and needs of the population in the context of its relationship with basin.

All this information is developed through participatory processes and techniques within the framework of existing mechanisms of community organization, allowing progress in participatory planning and concerted action.
